Biography

Mary Kathryn Curry provides comprehensive counsel on labor and employment matters. She often works directly with human resources teams to ensure compliance with laws governing the workplace. Mary Kathryn supports employers across a variety of industries and integrates herself into her clients' businesses; her role is to ensure that clients have proper workforce planning, outsourcing and diversity and inclusion programs in place, up-to-date workplace policies and training materials, and she assists clients with corporate compliance and investigations. In addition, Mary Kathryn provides clients with advice and counsel with respect to discrimination and harassment claims, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, restrictive covenant issues and handles employment-related litigation matters in these areas. She has also advised clients on pay equity analyses, affirmative action plans, and OFCCP investigations.

Before working in private practice, Mary Kathryn's 10 years of experience as a judicial clerk in both  federal and state court provided her first-hand experience into the litigation process, and a depth of knowledge that expands beyond employment matters to commercial disputes. Having participated in hundreds of mediations, Mary Kathryn is also able to take a consultative approach with clients and provide effective and practical legal counsel to the employers she represents.

Mary Kathryn has remained actively involved in the Chicago legal community during her career. She previously served as Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association, leading 9,000 members and over 50 community service projects, including coordinating a legal education program with the Barreau de Paris in France.  She was frequently a columnist for The Record, writing on the future of the legal profession and trends in the industry. Mary Kathryn believes in supporting the community through the work of the Chicago Bar Foundation, where she previously served on the board. She also served as a board member of the Federal Bar Association and continues as a member of the Executive Committee of the Alliance for Women, where she co-chairs the Mentoring Circles program. Fluent in French and a proud Francophile, Mary Kathryn also enjoyed her many years on the board of Groupe Professionnel Francophone.
